The company was founded in 2008 by six alumni from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology with an initial investment of just $400,000.

In 2016, the Israeli operating subsidiary of the company, Plus500IL Ltd. one of a small number of companies to be awarded a trading arena license by the Israel Security Authority (ISA). The same year, Plus500 released an app for the Apple Watch to exchange and display account information directly from Apple’s portable device.

In early December 2017, Plus500SG Pte Ltd., Singapore’s subsidiary of Plus500, was granted a Capital Markets Services license by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for securities trading and foreign exchange trading.

In June 2018, Plus500 launched its financial calendar, covering major economic events and indicators from around the world, provided by Dow Jones & Company, a subsidiary of News Corp. Plus500’s calendar lists the most affected instruments for each economic event.

In July 2018, Plus500 shares were listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange and the company joined the British FTSE 250 index of leading listed companies.

Also in 2021, Plus500 signed an agreement to acquire Cunningham Commodities LLC. and Cunningham Trading Systems LLC. [18] and in July 2021 Plus500 announced the completion of its acquisition of Cunningham, [19] a provider of futures and options on futures brokerage services in the United States.
